So watching election returns are always fun, but I've decided to make it a little more interesting by live blogging (thanks to the boys at Bertflex for the idea!). Also, this is the first time that Matt has realized I HAVE a blog which has been somewhat entertaining ;-)
6:40p- Pennsylvania just went to Obama- nice work! 102-34 Barack
6:42p- Matt, (ever the food scavenger like every guy I know!), just asked if I was done with my quesadilla. No, honey, I'm not.
6:46p- Matt just got out his laptop and is going to be reading everything I write about him. I love it! Diane Sawyer just informed us that in a Nationwide Exit Poll, 60% of voters say that Sarah Palin isn't qualified. No kidding.
6:49p- CNN is discussing how bad it looks for McCain. If you're Republican, watch Fox News- they'll probably be a little more optimistic, but I'm happy with Anderson Cooper (plus, Matt just admitted to a man crush on him so that alone is making me keep it on this channel!). :-)
6:56p- Matt just read about his man crush on Anderson Cooper. He's not happy that I released that information to the world wide web, but whatever. He's probably the only one reading this anyway!
7p- Polls have closed in a bunch of states, including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado- WI & MN both go OBAMA! Hooray- in all honesty, if a candidate is able to get all 6 of the Bremer family votes (including my traditionally very conservative mother!), he (or she) better take the state where 5 of the 6 were cast. And he did.
7:04p- Wondering if Tom Udall is related to Mark Udall. That's all.
7:05p- Thanks Wolf- just answered my question. They're cousins.
7:12p- I finally gave in and let Matt have the rest of my quesadilla- Georgia just went to McCain. I just realized that Matt's dog, Zoe, wears a blue collars. I hope Peaches has her 'Barks for Obama' collar on tonight. Colin's funny.
7:24p- Just saw an Old Chicago ad on Channel 9- we're not supposed to start airing until tomorrow so SOMEONE is giving us a free spot. Thanks Andy Burns!
7:31p- News flash to CNN- NBC just projected Ohio for Obama. Catch up already! (What would we do tonight without the ability to simultaneously watch 2 TV stations?!)
7:34p- CNN just caught up and projected Ohio. Huge win, obviously- as they pointed out, no Republican has ever won the Presidential race WITHOUT Ohio. Sorry McCain fans! It's not looking good at all!!
7:38p- LOL Hank Williams Jr. is performing at McCain's rally in Phoenix. Shocker. They've also apparently turned off all forms of news & information in the ballroom. Way to go.
7:46p- I'm laughing at some of my friends' statuses on Facebook- Someone (won't name names in case he/she is actually reading this!) has - "is wondering why anyone would actually vote for Obama....maybe if people actually researched what he stands for they would "change" their mind." This from a person who under 'Favorite Books' has: 'I don't read!! lol' as their response. Typical.
8:08p- I'm guessing by now Colin is reading this, so hi roomie!!
8:09p- I forgot how much James Carville confuses me- is it just me or does it seem like he should be a raging Republican? It also reminds me of the time I saw him standing across the street from my office building in front of Rite Aid. Good times.
8:14p- It's official. I'm in love with Luke Russert. Is he single? (Just kidding honey... or something!!)
8:17p- It just took me 25 minutes (at least according to Matt) for me to eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Too bad we didn't have more trick-or-treaters Friday night. Ugh. And too bad that Target had all their candy half off Saturday. Double ugh. We'll be eating chocolate until January.
8:23p- I think it's somewhat reflective of the candidates that McCain's party is at a swanky Phoenix hotel (obviously a private function), while Barack's is at a public park in downtown Chicago with what looks like 100,000+ people.
8:25p- Updating some local issues- unfortunately, the definition of person amendment is definitely not passing in Colorado; I didn't expect it would, but still... (Yes, I voted VERY blue, but not in this case since abortion is a big issue to me). They are saying that the Gaming Amendment is passing, though, which is GREAT news for community colleges in Colorado. It also doesn't look good for the disability tax, which is sad since it was SUCH a great idea, but you say the word 'tax' in this economy and it's probably not going to work...
8:41p- These holograms on CNN are pretty f'ing sweet! Especially the Senate and House distributions...
8:52p- NBC just promised some major states. Some major calls. After these messages.
8:58p- Our local NBC affiliate is giving Florida to Obama. This race is officially over- 234-138 without California. Peace out (literally!) Everyone has just read my mind and is projecting him as the winner. Goosebumps!!
