Anyone who knows me knows how much I love sports- but what people might not know is WHY I love sports so much. If there is anything that most kids learn from their fathers (but more so probably sons than daughters), it is probably 'the love of the game'. Whether that be baseball, football, volleyball, or heck, even Nascar, a sporting event can always bring you and your father closer together.
Take me and my dad, for example. Every team I cheer for and every sport I like to watch and play is because of my dad. From a life-long love of the Brewers and Packers, to continuing to work to perfect my set, to cheering on Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, and the rest of Roush racing, my dad's influence on me can be seen every day. Like almost every son or daughter of a great father, I think my dad is the best and I'm excited to be able to take him to a Brewers game in July; it may not be the County Stadium that he grew up going to, but it's still pretty darn great! Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there!
So in other news, I had a very fun week! Because of my job, I definitely get to experience a lot of very cool things. Thursday night was no exception- the Broncos held their 2008 rally for all advertisers and ad agencies. Basically, it's an excuse to go to Invesco, hang out in the Broncos' locker room, and drink! In recent years past, the team hasn't worked hard to make a good impression- they rely on a moving highlights video and some speeches from local sportscasters and maybe a random coach or two. I guess they realized they needed to make it a little more exciting this year, because even if they DO get paid for being there, they pulled out all the stops with player appearances this year. Here's who I met and what I thought:
- Jay Cutler, QB- WAY hotter in person than in pictures- really great hair. Also, a very cute Southern drawl (isn't he from Indiana? Do they HAVE southern accents in Indiana?). HOWEVER, he looked and acted like he wanted to be anywhere but there. I kind of wanted to remind him of that great quote from South Park when Stan and Kyle meet Cutler- "Nice to meet you. I mean, you kind of suck, but my dad says you might be good someday." I wouldn't call his attitude cocky, but he definitely did not impress me.
- Tony Scheffler, TE- yes, he gave me my prize when I won a digital camera in the raffle. HOWEVER, he was very similar to Cutler in terms of being very nonchalant about meeting people, picture taking, and autograph signing. In fact, he was the first player to stop doing all 3- again, not impressed.
- Brendon Marshall, WR- For someone who has publicly criticized Broncos fans for booing and leaving games early, gotten into numerous troubles in and around Denver for everything from DUIs to domestic violence, and was famously with Darrent Williams when he was shot and killed, Marshall was probably the most genial player I met Thursday night. He constantly smiled and seemed totally happy to be there. Also, as a side note, he had a short sleeve shirt on- his arm looks fine!
- The Bailey Brothers, (CB Champ & LB Boss)- These 2 were supposedly 'surprise' appearances; they did roll in late and spend most of the time near the bar, but they were also very nice. Boss more so than Champ (he was just really quiet), but also very cool to meet.
So, all in all, it a very fun night! This weekend has been fairly laid back, which was much needed after a busy week. I will try and get pictures up from Thursday night! Hope everyone had a good week- until next time...

I Heart Sundays...
Sundays are my favorite day of the week- not only do I usually have to do NOTHING, but there's (usually) some form of sporting event(s) that I can spend hours tuning in and zoning out.
Yesterday was a fun, busy day- went for a nice run, ordered new glasses and contacts, enjoyed a yummy sushi lunch at Tokyo Joe's, went to church, and then went out last night with a very fun group of people (shout-out again to Bridge for inviting me out!). We hit up Sing Sing, Fado's, and a place I hadn't been before- the Gin Mill. Definitely will be heading back there- I mean, what other bar openly encourages the playing of beer pong and flip cup, and also has a tremendous stock of board games (including quite possibly the best game ever- Trivial Pursuit Greatest Hits!). Needless to say, I am running a little slow today!
The Brewers smoked the 'Stros today which is nice, but unfortunately the Cubs beat the Rockies yet again and have officially taken over first place in all MLB. Yuck.
I am watching the MTV Movie Awards right now- Johnny Depp is so smokin' hot! I mean, seriously...
